I found yoga aged 17 and since then it has always been a part of my life. I believe yoga is a powerful tool, that when used appropriately can help guide us along a peaceful path.
This led me to train as a children's yoga teacher and work with children in special educational needs schools. My aim was to help children develop life long skills that help them live in the moment and be mindful every step of the way. Over the years my students have developed skills above and beyond the physical benefits of yoga.
Their mind-body connection became evident and they could independently use breathing techniques to self-regulate. Through mindfulness and meditation I started to notice a difference in how they communicated their feelings and how they cooperated with each other.
When given the time and space to pause and reflect, their creativity, compassion, humour and knowledge would amaze me. Each and every one of my students taught me something about myself. And I will be forever grateful to them.
During this pandemic we have all been forced to stop and reflect on our current lifestyle. This time has given me the chance to evolve and grow. I am now completing my 200 hours teacher training and will become a fully accredited yoga teacher over the next 12 months. I have seen the transformation that yoga can facilitate and hope to share the magic of yoga with as many people as I can.
